While I know there are plenty of people that enjoy the whole Fireworks and a barbecue evening for the 4th of July, our family is slightly less tradition. Instead, we enjoyed a belated birthday present and Father's Day present and had tickets to see Reba with Brooks & Dunn in concert at Caesar's Palace.
We aren't too fond of visiting the Vegas strip, but we braced the crowds and made our way to the Colosseum. Our seats were just right and we were next to some pretty mellow couples, so that was nice. The concert itself was great. If you've ever been a country fan or just a fan of Reba, this show was definitely worth the money. They performed many fan favorites and wowed the crowd with some group songs. They humored the crowd and honored the US. Aside from the entertainment, the crowd tended to smell slightly like my grandmother's old perfume and booze, but it didn't take away from the humor and talent of these amazing performers. If you ever plan on going to a concert on a holiday, here are some of my recommendations:

- Take a cab -- getting out of the parking garage was an absolute disaster. We spent 30 minutes in a line of cars without moving an inch. We ended up parking and going back in the casino for another hour and it still took about 10-15 minutes just to get out of the garage.
- Buy your alcohol and drinks before going into the show -- Alcohol and beverages are insanely over-priced once you enter. ($8 for a water and $18 for one cup of beer?!)
- Wear comfortable, yet fashionable clothes -- there are usually photographers around to take pictures and you'll also want to be comfortable if you're standing or sitting for a long period of time, then have to walk through an entire casino. We wouldn't want any wardrobe malfunctions.
- Carry minimal belongings -- The crowds can get pretty big and people will rush by you and run into you. Who wants to carry a huge purse and bag if you don't have to?
